Return to the Fire.

A living hearth for creativity, community and possibility.

Together, we burn brighter.

GATHER CREATE RENEW TEND
What HEARTH is

A creative culture built around the flame.

A place where creativity is sparked, community is strengthened and new possibilities emerge.

The fire remains at its centre: a source of warmth, hospitality, inspiration and the human desire to gather and grow together.

The form may change. The flame remains.

Core forces

Three forces underpin everything.

Fire is the catalyst, community the vessel, creativity the expression. Each carries equal weight.

The catalyst

Fire

Warmth and light. The spark of creativity, renewal and possibility. The oldest reason people have ever drawn close.

The vessel

Community

Belonging and hospitality. A place to participate and contribute, not simply to attend.

The expression

Creativity

Art, music, stories and making. Imagination becoming real. Held here as the equal of fire itself.

Why fire

Fire is one of humanity's oldest forces of transformation.

It turns darkness into light, cold into warmth and raw ingredients into nourishment. Around fire we have gathered, celebrated, grieved, created and learned for thousands of years. It is where stories are shared, ideas emerge and communities form.

The fire remains at the heart of HEARTH because it reminds us that meaningful things rarely appear fully formed.

They are tended into being.

The Sacred Hearth

Around the fire, we mark what matters.

Across every culture and age, people have brought the turning points of a life to the flame. The Sacred Hearth is where HEARTH holds them, with gravity, craft and care.

The moments it is made for
01

Beginnings

Births, namings and the welcoming of new life into a family and a community.

02

Coming of age

Marking the passage into adulthood with the weight, witness and intention it deserves.

03

Union

Marriages, partnerships and the joining of people, families and futures.

04

Remembrance

Honouring those we have lost, and carrying their memory forward together.

05

Renewal

Recovery, homecoming and the turning of one chapter of a life into the next.

Held well

Every Sacred Hearth is designed and led with skill: ancient form met with modern sensitivity, so the moment is held properly and everyone present is cared for. This is the difference between a fire and a ceremony.

Where HEARTH began

A tipi in a field in Dorset.

Each summer, in a place known as the Quantum Field, a gathering brought artists, makers, musicians and adventurers together to share food, stories and ideas around the fire.

As the season turned, a simple question surfaced. How do we keep this alive? Nobody wanted the creativity and belonging that had formed around the fire to disappear with the summer. The answer was simple. Keep the fire burning.

What began as a commitment to gather through the winter became artist workshops, community projects, men's circles, retreats, swimming communities, expeditions and creative collaborations. What began as a fire in a field became a living hearth.

Together, we burn brighter.

Our Hearths

Where HEARTH happens.

Every Hearth begins with people gathering around a fire. In time, stories are shared, friendships form and traditions emerge, and what began as a single gathering becomes a place people return to. Today, HEARTH is expressed through a growing collection of gathering places connected by a shared spirit and a common fire.

One fire, many Hearths.

The Original Fire

The Dorset Hearth

Around the fire we gather as artists, makers, entrepreneurs, parents, adventurers, leaders and friends, to share food, stories, creativity, adventure and meaningful connection. It is the original gathering place and the spiritual home of HEARTH.

Annual South African Gathering

Each year our South African gathering is built around AfrikaBurn, the great desert festival of creativity, self-reliance and radical community. We come together at the Burn, then journey across the country to the Eastern Cape, carrying the same fire into wild country among friends. Festival, expedition and gathering become one long adventure, bound by shared values: creativity, generosity, stewardship and the simple act of showing up fully for one another.

The four directions

How HEARTH works.

The principles behind everything we make.

01

Gather

Bring people together.

02

Create

Make something meaningful.

03

Tend

Care for people, places and projects.

04

Renew

Allow growth, change and new beginnings.

The vision

Tended beyond our own lifetime.

Our purpose is to create the conditions for creativity, community and possibility. In this lifetime, to establish a physical Hearth: a place where Gather, Create, Tend and Renew can be lived every day.

Beyond that, a network of Hearths. Distinct places connected by a shared philosophy rather than a fixed formula, each rooted in its own landscape and culture while carrying the same flame forward.

Our longest horizon extends seven generations. Not because we can predict the future, but because some things are worth tending beyond ourselves.

The projects change. The people change. The forms change. The flame remains.
