Where HEARTH happens.

Every Hearth begins with people gathering around a fire. In time, stories are shared, friendships form and traditions emerge, and what began as a single gathering becomes a place people return to. Today, HEARTH is expressed through a growing collection of gathering places connected by a shared spirit and a common fire.

The Southern Fire

The Eastern Cape Hearth

Set amongst the wilderness, coastlines and conservation landscapes of the Eastern Cape, the Southern Fire offers a side of South Africa experienced through relationship, local knowledge and shared adventure. Each year we gather with friends, strengthen bonds between communities and continue the story around a common fire.

The Phoenix Rises

The circle around the fire at night in the Eastern Cape

The flagship journey of the Eastern Cape Hearth: nine days in wild country, part adventure, part field school, part homecoming. Walk with elephants and learn tracking from professional guides, stand alongside the rangers who hold the front line of species survival, spend time in the communities for whom conservation is a livelihood rather than an idea, and take to the Indian Ocean to follow the story offshore. Every evening the group returns to the flame: what the bush teaches by day, the fire settles by night. Small group, fully hosted, dates and investment on application.

The story so far.

From one painting by a fire to a place you can walk into. This is how the fire moved.

Infinity Love.

HEARTH begins as an artistic intention: a heart and the earth connected through art. One continuous line, four colours for the four elements, painted beside the fire.

The Quantum Field.

A field in Dorset, each summer. Artists, makers, musicians, adventurers, vagabonds and misfits finding one another around a fire.

Keep the fire burning.

The summer ended and the question surfaced: how do we keep this alive? Rented halls, living rooms, a boxing gym. The fire moved indoors for the winter, and the local creative community had somewhere to belong, make and meet.

The circle grows.

Men's circles, swimming, workshops, retreats. Three years on a beach, in a hall, in a river, with a fire or a candle at the centre of every one.
